Finished the Easel and Painting

I just finished building this new studio easel and have been very pleased. It does everything except paint for me. Here's a picture of it, not very flattering on my behalf, and I included a close up of the painting which you can follow along with on my demonstrations page.

New Seascapes

Here are some things I've been working on over the past week.

First here is 12 x 16 in oil

This one is a 16 x 20 in oil. This being a particularly special work since it is of one of my favorite spots in laguna beach

New acrylics

So Here's what I've been up to the last couple of days, all of it in acrylic.

The second one I experimented with a textured canvas by gessoing sand onto the canvas, it had a very neat little effect I think. Next time I might try tinting the gesso so that from an angle the painting will change colors.

And the Oils are Out

Yep, took out the good old oil paints again, in search of some nice flavors, one a continuation in my fascination with extremely dark and dramatic sunrises. Enjoy!
